You’ve just learned that you can have professional portraits taken of you and your dog! Now what? Should you spend a lot of time training your dog to do special tricks? What if your pup is easily excited, or you aren’t comfortable with them off-leash? Is it okay if your dog isn’t super well trained?
The short answer: come as you are! I invite all levels of dog owners to participate in a photo shoot with Rachele Barker Photography, even if you don’t have special training. I will take the time needed to work with you and your pup. Patience is key to ensuring we come away with beautiful photographs you can hang on the wall! When I first meet your dog, I will greet them in a calm manner to help them get used to my presence. From there, I will work with you and your dog to be flexible. If your dog is comfortable and happy, it will show in the photos. Oftentimes a little walk together will help us get used to each other as well. Many posing options are available for dogs in a standing position. We can also take advantage of when they naturally sit or lay down to snap a few shots.
The most fun part of dog photography sessions is that you actually get to help me create the shots we want! When we meet, I will teach you how to help me pose your dog to get fantastic photos. The most helpful tools for this are a leash, a collar, and some treats. You can also read more about what to bring to your dog photography session.
If you’re ready to book your dog photography session, let me know! I’m excited to meet you and your pup.
